Matrescence Tales - Jamila Rizvi | bonding, friendship, equality, maternity and paternity leave, mothers as change agents
Description
In this weeks episode I had the total pleasure of chatting to Jamila Rizvi. Jamila is Editor-at-Large of the Nine Network’s Future Women, weekly columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald and the age and a regular commentator on The Project, Today and Q and A. She previously worked in politics for the Rudd and Gillard Governments, advising on issues including media, women, child care, and employment.
She's written two incredible books - 'Not Just Lucky' - a career manifesto for the millennial woman, and one of my all time favourite motherhood books "The Motherhood" - a collection of short letters from women about their experiences of new motherhood.
It was such a pleasure to chat to Jamila, and I was blown away by how warm, funny, honest and whip smart she is. We chatted about a range of topics including her experience as a new mum, the pressure to be "in love" with your baby straight away, the power of female friendships, equality for women in the workplace, social issues affecting mothers and her incredible book the Motherhood.
